(SYMPATHY)
What I liked about the poem was each stanza rhymes. What the poet is saying is that the bird is locked in a cage trying to get out. He is trying so hard that he hurt his wings and made them bloody. The mood of this poem is sad because the bird wants freedom and he can't have it. He repeats ''I know why the caged bird'' because he feels the bird's pain, he knows how the birds feel. This poem makes me think that the author been in a situation like this.
"Till it's blood is red on the cruel bars"
This quote is that I feel sorry because the is beating his wing against the bars to escape and he made himself bleed. A plea, that upward to heaven he flings means he might be sending a message to heaven to let them know he want to be free.I know what the caged bird feels, alas it makes me feel the same way. When i read this poem I felt sad because the bird was locked in a cage and he wanted to get out. When the first bird sings and the first bud opes, It means the birds sings in spring when the flower opens. I know why the cage bird beats his wing, the author knows what the bird is going through. It is not carol of joy or glee because the bird is not singing happy songs and he just want to be free.
